Costco Proposal Withdrawn… For Now…
In a letter to the Penfield Planning Board, the developer of the reviled “Penfield Town Center” project has withdrawn their proposal. The full letter can be read here: Ltr to PB 8-21-24.pdf. Although this may be seen as a short-term win for opponents of the project, it is important to note two facts:
In their withdrawal letter, the developer explicitly stated that they “anticipate submitting a new application at a future time”.
The properties in play for the project are still owned by members of “Penfield NY Partners, LLC”, the shell corporation stood up to obfuscate personal responsibility.
It seems likely that when this project resurfaces, it will be at the same location. Preserve Penfield is committed to staying alert to updates on this project and the parcels in question, and to doing all that we can to put an end to any future proposal that stands at odds to the public interest.
