Town Board Advances Resolution on 47 Willow Pond Way

Last Wednesday, March 19, the Penfield Town Board discussed the project at 47 Willow Pond Way. The full discussion can be viewed here: https://vimeo.com/1067559377#t=44m15s. After some preamble, the Town Supervisor moved to have Town staff draft a resolution for future vote to deny the Special Use Permit required for the project to proceed.

The Board then discussed the matter at some length, including the basis for proposed denial and some concerns regarding procedure. Ultimately the motion was passed with a 3 to 1 vote.

What happens next?

Residents can expect to see this motion added to the agenda for a future Town Board Legislative Session, typically held on the first Wednesday of each month. It is uncertain as of this writing when exactly the resolution will be placed on the Board’s agenda, so it is recommended for interested parties to keep an eye on upcoming agendas as they are posted.

It is important to remember that all that was passed last Wednesday was a motion to have Town staff write a resolution. It’s a crucial functional step, but it is by no means a final decision on the Willow Pond project.

Make no mistake, though: this is progress! This is movement in the right direction as a direct result of community action to engage the Town government and make your voices heard. Preserve Penfield extends our thanks to the residents of the Willow Pond neighborhood for serving as an inspiration for what perseverance and coordinated action can accomplish.

There’s plenty left to do, so keep up the good work!

Now is the time to keep the message loud and clear. Please write to the board to share why you think this project should be denied. Please attend upcoming Town Board meetings to share your voice in person. Through clarity, civility, and consistency, we can win!
